 In the summer of 2000, friends and business partners Steve and Jamie Barber and Jeff and Valerie Peck decided to accomplish two things: to provide a place in which individuals with developmental disabilities could reach their full potential and to provide local Coastside businesses with the commercial space to thrive and grow. It was out of these goals that the Big Wave Project was founded.
The first steps in building Big Wave have been undertaken, including designing both the Big Wave Wellness Center and the adjacent Office Park. The group has applied for all necessary permits for building and has retained all engineers, architects, land-use attorneys and biologists required for the project’s success.
The founders of Big Wave have established the intent to donate the five-acre Wellness Center site, including all plans and project engineering for the site, to Big Wave Group 501c (3), a non-profit organization that will administer its functions.
